also known by the pseudonym Marco Lombardi (Venice, 1901 – Venice, 1966), was an Italian literary critic, translator and writer.
Born in Venice in 1901, Aldo Camerino collaborated as a literary critic with various newspapers and magazines, such as La Nazione of Florence, La Gazzetta del Popolo of Turin, Il Gazzettino of Venice, Il Mondo.
An attentive reader and excellent translator of classical and modern authors in English (Shakespeare, Stevenson, Steinbeck, Cronin), Joyce and French (Éluard, Gide, Boulle), he had the merit of highlighting, long before they were translated into Italian, writers such as Jerome David Salinger and Frederick Rolfe, also known as Baron Corvo.
